"It's-a me! Pizzano the Paisano!"
— Pizzano

Description

Flavio Giuseppe Nicoletta Costeau Piccolini Von Pastano—known to the educated masses as Pizzano T. Creampuff, the uneducated masses as The Pizzano, and everyone reading this page as Pizzano—is essentially Peppino Spaghetti with The Noise's personality and fashion sense, with a dose of Wario and Stimpy mixed in. He is a portly Italian man with a small mustache. He wears a white superhero mask as well as a blue chef's hat with red pepperoni-esque details on top. He also wears a blue jumpsuit with white gloves and boots, but sometimes he also wears yellow boots, gloves and a mask too. Notably, he's a bit larger than Peppino, being overall puffier and thicker.

His reference sheets reads:

""What helps me draw Pizzano is by thinking of him as that one out-of-touch gym leader you used to have who's definitely past his prime and still thinks he's the coolest guy around. (...) Think of Pizzano's personality as a cross between Stimpy and Wario. He's an overweight, goofy, and oftentimes dim-witted super hero with a strong ego. He's not necessarily a villain in this universe, he's a sort of anti-hero (kinda like King Dedede).""
— Lukee

and

""Pizzano is an over-the-top, dim-witted super hero with a love for action, pizza, and stunts. I like to think of him as a cross between Wario and Stimpy.""
— Lukee

Taking the role of The Noise, Pizzano is an immature, brash eccentric with ties to the TV industry and an array of gadgets at his disposal. On his own blog, he states he had his own show sometime around the 80's and 90's, which was promptly cancelled in the middle of its second season due to his excessive profanity on air (to which he responded "TOO VULGAR? YOU AIN'T SEEN SHIT CAUSE YOU AIN'T EVER BEEN TO JERSEY!!!"). Due to receiving 70% residuals off of his TV appearances and merch, he continues to live like the superstar he sees himself as. He responds mostly negatively to anything in life that isn't pizza, including fan mail from children and even calzones.

Many pieces of canon works involving the Pizzano imply that he may be somewhat mentally unwell. For example, in Pizzelle's first blog post, he makes a mess of her bakery on skis, trying to jump out of the windows "as if the building was on fire", startling the other customers and causing Pizzelle to believe he might be insane. This is only made worse when he tries to order a pizza, and promptly starts crying and throwing "somewhat of a fit" when Pizzelle admits that her bakery doesn't serve any. Outside of this, he's prone to sudden rages and bursts of energy, especially when it comes to pizza. Fishibi has simply described him as "(...)a rude narcissistic person and kind of depressed".

Pizzano is set to be the boss of Floor 3.

Scrapped gameplay styles

Construct Pizzano

This moveset felt like a clunky version of Pogo Noise, being able to bounce around on a hopper ball and activate flight. He could destroy metal blocks in flight but not normal blocks and vise versa for his pogo state. This was scrapped during the revival of SS due to the game moving engines so no code could be carried over.

Handstand Pizzano

Seen in the steamyproto build, Handstand Pizzano appears to be an unfinished version of a Pizzano moveset. He had a broken grab that didn't work but went in an arch instead of the straight line like Pizzelle's. If he held shift and jumped he would proceed to do handstands and was able to bounce around at high speeds and bounce off enemies. If he built up enough speed from handstanding he could destroy metal blocks. This moveset was scrapped for unknown reasons.

Wario Pizzano

At one point in development Pizzano played similarly to Wario. He had a dash that had a speed build up similar to that of Wario in WL4 along with a super jump and a slide. This was scrapped for feeling like an iteration/downgrade of Pizzelle's moveset.

Pogo Pizzano

Pizzano would bounce around on a hopper ball, and once he was moving fast enough on the hopper ball he could transition into flight. This was scrapped as well due to him not working with the level design.

Fusion Pizzano

This iteration of Pizzano worked like a mix between Peppino and Pogo Noise. He had a somewhat clunky double jump and was able to run up to Mach 2 to build up a charge. If Pizzano built up a charge, he could either press Grab to go into flight while running or stop and then press Shift while standing still or walking.

When in the flight state, Pizzano could accelerate and decelerate his speed but was unable to drift. He could move up and down in the air and also jump out of his flight state as long as he was touching the ground, and he was also able to destroy metal blocks if he flew into them. Pizzano could not wall run in this iteration and instead could wall jump, sticking to a wall for a second before slowly sliding down until he either touched the ground or jumped off the wall.

Pizzano had a spin jump when running at Mach 2 or performing a walljump (a possible reference to King Knight) and had a shoulderbash (an obvious reference to Wario). He could also roll at Mach 2 and 3, and when rolling, he could destroy metal blocks even if he initiated the roll at Mach 2, and oddly enough, he was able to perform a spinjump out of his roll. This moveset was scrapped due to it being very messy and disorganized, feeling like a mix of ideas, and all around not being that fun.

Relationships

Due to the unreleased state of the game, many of the cast relations are bare bones or unknown to the audience at this point in time.

Pizzelle

"I don’t think they hate each other, Pizzelle is just fearful and Pizzano is insane" -Jessie, 03/30/2023

Pizzano doesn't seem to hold any personal malice for Pizzelle (so far, he hasn't even referred to her by name), but he did hack her website to temporarily replace it with his own. Pizzelle doesn't seem to like him very much. Probably due to Pizzano having hacked her website.

Stinky

"i think pizzano wouldn't let his mask fall next to pizzelle he stays in character only with stinky" -Fishibi, 08/21/2023

"Stinky has great respect for Pizzano's career accomplishments while still seeing him as a bumbling asshole.. theyre like disco elysium if kim kitsuragi was under constant pressure of being fired by disco elysium" -Catherine Welegi, 11/01/2023

Stinky is the Pizzano's trusted mechanic and seemingly general errand man. Pizzano runs him ragged, and is not above putting ridiculous rush jobs on him at any time[1]. Stinky apparently has a habit of getting him the wrong kinds of pizza (from bad chains to calzones), which is a frequent source of his ire.

The G

Practically nothing is known of their relationship, besides that G has sponsored Pizzano's website.

Trivia

  • He was originally called Cream Puff.
  • He used to have his own campaign in the construct era, where you would have played as him setting up traps for Pizzelle, but the whole different campaign idea for the game has since been scrapped.
  • His name is a pun on paisano.
  • Pizzano's online username is vigvigorousPizza.
    • It was intended to just be "vigorousPizza", but the misspelling ended up sticking (despite initial attempts to change it back).
  • Pizzano has been stated by Soda to be an enigma because he could "never get Pizzano to work right."
  • Pizzano's boss theme is currently named "Pizza Friday", and has been previewed in multiple streams. It has not, however, had any clips released otherwise.
  • Pizzano actually makes a cameo in the demo in Sugarshack Mines, where if you watch the debris of The Applejim Express when it's destroyed, you can see Pizzano falling with the debris.
  • Pizzano was one of the characters in the poll for the secondary playable character, winning by a landslide.
    • The fact Pizzano was winning the poll caused Marioket (one of the former devs for Sugary Spire) to absolutely lose it over the fact people wanted Pizzano to be playable over Coneboy.
  • Pizzano's face is on the moon in the Entryway (AKA Crunchy Construction) level in one of the backgrounds in the beginning of the stage.
  • For a short period of time, Pizzano's 2022 1040 Tax Form was available on his website. It contained information such as his social security number, his average annual income, and the notation of Gumbob as a "USELESS FUCK". The form has been declared as non-canon within the Discord, notably for the implication that certain Sugary Spire locations correlated to locations in the real world, and its page on the website has been replaced with a note from Pizzano telling people to stop sending mail and other mysterious packages to his home. For posterity, this non-canon document can be found here.
  • Pizzanos flying pose taunt is a reference to a Mcpig sketch that inspired Pizzano where he is seen flying in a similar pose wearing a superhero costume.
